07

11
What makes your work standout?
I really focus on amalgamating my design sense with the clients' vision. I really want my client to love their website so I ensure I'm building to their unique requests. Although I have my own sense of design, I really listen to them and build around their design preference and vision as well. This creates quite an eclectic portfolio!
12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Stamp and HammerWebsite →I have many. But I looooove what I did with the Stamp & Hammer website. They really challenged me in building something out of the box and there have been many times I had to amalgamate a few CSS workshops or plugins. There are some key components inside this website that I had to build from scratch. Like the floating newsletter bar and the home page rotating banner with video, images with Kenburns effects. Tons of amazing, fun challenges on this site.
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
I would need to credit standout for a lot of my design techniques, my successful business structure and my ability to get through touch sticky codes. I love building and this course focuses on those who want to step out of the box. I love coloring outside the lines :)
14
What is your dream website project?
I would love for someone to come to me and say 'I'll leave all the design and decision making to you!' Building a website without restriction or a cap on creativity has always been a dream.

11
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Earth ConsciousWebsite →Our Earth one-week website base design made for environmental advocates and non-profits, which we launched this year.
This design was two years in the making! I spent a lot of time researching the types of key pages, sections and functionality these types of businesses would need. In the end, I created our first 'mix and match' one-week website design where the business can choose the exact functionality they need. It makes the design so much more flexible and can be used by a variety of different businesses.
I used loads of different workshops and trainings from standout, including:
• Blog grid
• Pricing tables
• Sliding letters
• Sticky section and words for values on the About page
• Sliding timeline
• Pseudo brand marks in the footer
• Sticky split section in portfolio
• Make entire list item clickable
12
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
To truly understand code – rather than just copy and paste it from anywhere and everywhere across the internet. And the smart coding techniques have helped me develop my one-week website base designs in a way that makes them easy for me to create and easy for my clients to keep up to date. This has been an invaluable growing point for my business.
13
What is your dream website project?
A for-purpose business and / or activist – someone who is focusing on making a difference in the area of climate change.

12
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

AMICI CUCINA E VINO
Understanding how to combine old and new technology and knowledge to achieve the best result, leveraging abundant knowledge but limited time, and making it exceptionally valuable for the industry. First: Designing and developing websites for restaurants allows each establishment to showcase its unique identity and offerings. From high-end Michelin-starred venues to cozy local bistros, the goal is to capture the essence of the dining experience through thoughtful design elements. Incorporating features like intuitive reservation systems, visually enticing menu displays with quality imagery, and personalized sections like 'Meet the Team' can enrich the website's appeal. By tailoring these elements to reflect the restaurant's atmosphere and culinary philosophy, every website can stand out as a distinct digital representation of its brand.
Second: Designing and developing websites for Airbnb and smaller travel companies is essential for showcasing their unique offerings and maintaining their individuality. By highlighting personalized services, distinctive accommodations, and local experiences, these websites ensure that they stand out and remain memorable in a competitive market. This approach not only attracts potential guests but also enhances the overall user experience, fostering trust and loyalty among visitors.

04
My day usually starts with coffee, a walk, and CEO time
05
Most of the time I am working on getting better and better at development.
06
What are your first memories of the Internet?
Some of my first memories are of being on the computer with my Mom! I was about 5 when she taught me how to type in command lines to run games on the family computer (in the 90s!!!) Then, by the time I was a tween, it was AOL instant messenger all day every day - this is still why I can type at the speed of light.
07
What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
As a developer, I love breaking the design down into parts and then translating it into a responsive space. I love figuring out how to build these designs to perfectly match the mockup designers send me. My focus is always on creating beautiful, responsive websites that are easy for people to use. I LOVE it when designers come to me with a beautiful idea that they’re not sure how to build. My brain comes alive and I can’t get enough.
08
What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
When I am mid-code, I typically put on a movie or TV show that I’ve seen a hundred times before. (Typically, a 90s romcom.) Having something familiar on in the background gives me just enough to ignore so my brain can refocus on the code at hand.
If something really stumps me, I’ll hop on my bike and take a 10 minute spin to shake off any error messages.
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Minimalist. Playful.
10
Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
Every single workshop is so helpful in making me a better developer. But, it’s less about specific code snippets, and more about the technique that is woven through the Standout Squarespace curriculum. Thanks to the workshops, and both version of the course, I am able to craft new pieces of code to create the looks my designers need. But, specifically, I think I use pseudo elements every single day. That and Flex Box.
11
What makes your work standout?
I am a people-first developer. I practice code every day, I revisit lessons and workshops, and keep W3 schools open in (multiple) tabs of my browser. I do this because I want to make sure that what I build is actually easy to use for my designers AND their clients. I make sure I have experience building custom features so that I can inform and empower designers to create websites that clients aren't scared to touch.
12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Fernweh Studios designed by Mindful Charlene
This client project was my first as a development studio. It was an incredible experience, working closely with Charlene (fellow Standouter) to bring her stunning design to life was just such a dream. Her design required lots of Standout techniques, including text decors, pseudo elements, vertical tabs, hover effects, and about a hundred others to restructure list sections to best capture the painstaking vibes of her clients.
What I learned on that project has heavily influenced how I offer development and what I KNOW I’m capable of.
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
The Standout programs doesn’t just give me stuff to memorize or teach what I could have Googled. It is this in-depth experience that feels more like grad school than an online course.
I took the first version of the course a couple years ago, and it took me about 3 months of hardcore study, along with hours and hours of work to get through those lessons. I stubbornly kept at it until one day … it clicked.
Because Rache teaches HOW TO THINK about development, I’ve been able to practice and hone my own development craft by relying on techniques taught in this program.
Recently, I sat down to take the updated version of the course and I finished in a week. It’s not because the course got easier - it’s because Rache taught me how to do this (and to do it efficiently!)
14
What is your dream website project?
I want to work with design studios who are focused on people-first Squarespace websites. I want to work with designers who push the envelope, who have clear objectives, who want to grow and serve their clients on every level. I want to work with studios who welcome a developer as collaborator with big time bestie vibes!

12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Lucie Fink
I worked with Lucie on revamping her brand identity and website. She was on a boring Squarespace template and her goal was to have a place where she was proud to send potential collaborations and house all of her content. She needed a brand and website that reflected her and her fun, colorful aesthetic.
We used the moodboard plug-in to show off Lucie's creative style and provide an interactive component to her audience.
I learned how to use summary blocks and blogs to load all of her content. Lucie shares her videos across all different platforms and we needed to find a way to make it easy for her audience to find.
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
It's a goldmine of information! I used to Google my way through my business, specifically when it comes to web design. Now, if I'm ever stuck on anything in the development process, I pop over to the community and course and can more than likely find what I'm looking for. I also love how up-to-date the Standout programs remain in our ever-changing world.
14
What is your dream website project?
I have SO many! I'd love to work with a large, well-known brand that I admire on a Shopify overhaul. A brand that comes to mind is Show Me Your Mumu!

12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Bare Nordic Beauty
My proudest website build so far is an e-commerce site for a client on Shopify called Bare Nordic Beauty. I took the skills I learned from working with Squarespace and applied them to Shopify. What started as a small complementary shop for a Nordic beauty brand boutique has grown into a full-fledged e-commerce store with over 400 products. The key lesson I learned from this project is to never set boundaries on what you can achieve.
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned from the Standout programs is that with the right mindset and people cheering you on, you can achieve anything. The program has not only given me the necessary skillset but also fostered the confidence and mindset to stand out and design uniquely. The supportive community, always cheering us on, has been a huge part in pushing boundaries and reaching my goals.
14
What is your dream website project?
My dream website project would be to build a visually bold and modern website that gives visitors an alluring and inspiring customer journey for an up-and-coming personal brand in the beauty industry. I envision creating a website that showcases their unique products and services, tells their story, and engages their audience with captivating content. This project would combine my passion for design with my love for the beauty industry, allowing me to craft an online presence that truly stands out and resonates with beauty enthusiasts.

16
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
New Money Social Club
I had so much fun working on this project. Eden Connelly Tallerico, the founder of New Money Social Club, came to me with a clear sense of her content and bold brand identity design by Cool Eye Creative. Taking my cues from the brand assets provided, I worked on a hi-fi mockup of the one-page design in Figma first, playing with scale and color while keeping accessibility at the forefront. I used the Split Carousel list workshop to highlight what a membership to New Money Social Club includes
Lazy Afternoon
I got this idea in my head for a cannabis farm / dispensary and started out working on brand identity. Part of the reason I love working in the cannabis industry is because of how fun and free the designs typically are, and with a personal project I had total freedom. I started working in Figma before refining the logo in Illustrator. I curated stock imagery from Pexels and Unsplash and then edited all the images to have an on-brand treatment. The web design was less planned out than my usual process — I designed as I built. I made use of the Top Navigation for Tabs to showcase the four strains and the Sticky/Scrolling Blog Item Layout. I learned a lot while bringing in little touches, including a custom cart icon I wound up getting rid of. I'm working on moving more of the site into fluid engine, but I love how it turned out.
17
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
Play more with javascript, write cleaner and lighter code, and hone my client experience.
18

But on a typical workday, I am usually drinking coffee and designing the website architecture. I love development and my focus is bringing designers vision and website projects to life through smart code. As an architect turned web developer I an a natural puzzle solver, coming up with simple yet impactful coding solutions for fellow cool designers, this is why my studio is called From Cool to Coded.
04
My day usually starts with meditation, coffee and a morning run in the nearest park
05
Most of the time I am working on web development for other designers inside Squarespace and Shopify
06
What are your first memories of the Internet?
I am a 90's kid so I remember the sound of dial up internet. I am a hybrid: knew both analog and digital eras. I would download coloring books and images that I could then print out and make an art project out of them... I loved it since the very beginning.
07
What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
Coding is where I shine. I like design and really enjoy it too... but writing lines of code and coming up with smart, efficient and simple solutions to website mockups is my passion. I love puzzles (big sudoku fan) and web development is like solving one big puzzle in many small steps.
08
What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
Playing with my dog
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Monochrome. Playful. Bold.
10
Share your unique style, your design philosophy and/or aesthetics that appeal to you.
I consider myself a design chameleon. I love studying vintage magazines and books to gather inspo as much as I love seeing what's new on Pinterest. I try my best to combine the best of new and old while providing a safety net depending on the niche my clients are in.
11
Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
All of them! But if I have to choose: vertical lines, mega menus (or any menu workshop), testimonial slider, sticky - scrolling, focus list carrousels, anything with hover effects and animations.... Lol I could keep going, they are all amazing.
12
What makes your work standout?
I love an editorial, bold, monochromatic design but contrasted with fun, playful user integrations. I love it when users are surprised when visiting a website with *hidden* cool animations and interactions. I love to incorporate these fun little code snippets that give web designs and extra layer of fun.
13
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Maria Web StudioWebsite →It was the first website I made for myself when I launched my Web Design Studio and was still a student inside Standout Squarespace. Since it was a project for myself I felt really confident to explore and take risks. It represented my design style to the fullest: editorial, vertical lines, black and white and image and typography based. I built it when the classic editor was the only editor. I used the lessons learned inside Module 4: Box model, typography, display, float and layout position properties. During this project I learned that anything is possible when you learn smart coding techniques. That CSS alone goes a long long way. I also learned more about my personal style and POV.
14
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
My biggest takeaway is that if you build strong skills you can achieve anything. That you can create your dream job, and creativity is inside all of us, it just has different outlets. I will forever be grateful for Rache and of her Standout Programs, they opened a lot of doors I never thought possible for me.
15
What is your dream website project?
I love coding websites, so my dream website project is to collaborate with nice, cool designers around the world and bring their website projects from cool to coded.

Exploring design direction. And what I like the most is building and coding it to live. I love the thrill and the problem solving part of building the site.
08
What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
Brew another coffee. The smell of freshly brewed coffee lifts my spirit. At the end of the day/week, I reward myself with a few episodes of Kdrama.
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Earthy. Modern.
10
Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
Every single one of the Standout workshops is valuable in making a unique standout website. I learned a lot from Rache's thought process and how to apply that, not only limited to the workshop materials but I can use the same principles to solve other problems as well.
11
What makes your work standout?
I took time to listen to my client's problem, provide the simplest solution, and elevate it to make it look unique and stand out. Every client is different, every project is a new challenge. I am always up for any creative challenge. I am led by curiosity and skill-driven results.
12

Website →As designer and developer, this is my proudest project. What I love about it is, the challenge of how to make Squarespace website look unique
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
Rache's teaching style and materials are unique, aesthetic, and very importantly: make sense. Standout program has the best of both worlds of creativity and coding. Being a designer who loves to venture and learn more in coding, I took many coding courses and most of them were too long/too slow/too boring but not with Standout. Every module sparks interest and Rache's way of teaching makes coding make sense.
Also, the community. I met lots of new friends in Standout, and collaborate on projects and develop meaningful relationships.

What is your dream website project?

Visit website →We started the project with a brand strategy session to learn all about our client and her business and where she wanted to take it. She was looking to elevate her bohemian brand in order to attract more high-ticket projects. In tandem with her strategic re-brand, we created the website of her dreams. We used workshops such as image borders, overlapping images, moving images across sections, stylish carousel summary block, autoplay videos, and much more. This was one of the first projects to be completed once Squarespace upgraded to fluid engine so there were lots of learnings about the new platform features along the way.

Visit website →As all our web projects start out, we started with strategic branding to learn about their new business and where they wanted to take it. This project was unique because they wanted to focus on two main audiences (doulas and parents). We created a site that catered to both with easy navigation. We used workshops that included multiple buttons in the header, flexbox, split sections, content backgrounds, and more. This was one of the first websites we build after diving into the course and implementing some of the harder lessons to code!
16
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
Learn more and grow my coding skills to be able to work across platforms. I am most grateful that the teaching methods help not only expand my skills, but the creative freedom that we can bring to our clients!

But on a typical workday, I am usually ready to roll by 5:30 AM. My creative brain works best in the morning. I save afternoons (and sometimes evenings) for blogging, researching, and social media posts. I believe in balance, and I always take a break for some time outdoors.
04
My day usually starts with coffee, stretching, and meditation. Always.
05
Most of the time I am working on a new design, refining a design, or learning a cool new design trick.
06
What are your first memories of the Internet?
When I graduated from high school, my parents gifted me a typewriter. By my second year of college, I was taking a BASIC programming class.
07
What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
I love my clients. I've been so fortunate the meet the most amazing people. They inspire me. I also love the design work. It's SO fun to pour creativity into a website and watch the elements interact to create something beautiful.
08
What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
Fresh air and movement.
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Minimalist. Feminine. Earthy.
10
Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
I love typography. It's an undervalued creative tool, and the possibilities are endless. It seems like every website calls for a unique font style or placement. I've learned so much from all of Rache's workshops, and I have over 100 pages of notes from her courses that I often refer to during my design work.
11
What makes your work standout?
My designs are elegant and confident. When site visitors scroll through one of my websites, they say "aah" and "ooh" and "oh!" They're comforted, intrigued, and surprised by my work. Of course, I've designed sites that are robust and bold, but my best work is found in softer creations.
12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Diane Green DesignWebsite →This is my personal website.
Because this is my own website, I've had opportunities to dramatically revise it as I've become a better designer. I started with poppy flowers (paired with design inconsistencies and clutter), to aspen trees and mountain scenes (not reflective of my business), to my current design (refined, professional, soft, with a touch of playfulness).
Standout Core (image sizing, basic typography, column utilization, selecting pre-formatted sections and blocks, and the accessibility checks, and more). Standout Advanced (selecting elements the right way and basic CSS).
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
As a website designer, the Standout programs are the best investment I've made in terms of business and design. They are exceptionally comprehensive; in fact, I work through the modules multiple times and take copious notes (like more than 100 pages)--and I still have more to learn from the programs. Rache is a phenomenal teacher: professional, direct, kind, and attentive. My biggest takeaway? Web design is evolving and limitless. My work evolves as I learn, and my designs are only limited by what I don't know. This is why I'm a dedicated student of the craft.
14
What is your dream website project?
Send me an empowered woman who has a vision, a roadmap, brand assets, and a commitment to finding her way in the entrepreneur world, and I'm thrilled!

What are your first memories of the Internet?
My first experiences with the internet were when I moved from Virginia to California. In order to stay connected with my classmates from the East Coast, I got all their emails. After that, I stayed connected with them through AIM, and eventually MySpace (my favorite social media platform ever.)
07
What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
I LOVE to code. It's creative problem-solving. It's both a right-brained and left-brained task. I love it.
08
What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
Outside of work, my biggest passion in life is cooking. You can always find me in the kitchen outside of working hours.
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Otherworldly. Vibrant. Vintage/Retro.
10
Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
Flexbox might be my favorite CSS trick I've ever learned. I use split screen sections all the time in my work, as well as sticky sections.
11
What makes your work standout?
The main thing about my design style that sets me apart is the process I go through in the work itself. My intuitive approach to design is my biggest unique selling point. Everything is thought out and meaningful in its own way. Everything is drawn in using my intuition and creativity. My work is art. Plain and simple.
Also, the fact that I am both a talented creative person and have strong technical development skills. When you connect with my brand, I do have a very distinct personal aesthetic. That being said, I am very open-minded when it comes to the types of design styles I take on for clients.
12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Carolyn Egan's Holistic Academic DevelopmentWebsite →
Natalie Brite
Website →I love this project because it showcases how a client/designer relationship can remain longstanding even after the client's personal style changes and evolves. I built this site using a template, which I learned how to create using the template module. Gemini also features a lot of split sections.
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
I have learned to feel more confident writing code through these programs. This was something I always wanted to get better at, but I didn't have a chance to until I enrolled in Standout Squarespace. They changed the game for me and has given me a technical leg up on other designers in my field.
14
What is your dream website project?
I would love to design a website for someone who has created an oracle or tarot deck. Or maybe they're a shop that sells a variety of decks and other witchy items.

07

Figuring out how the visual identity will translate over to the web experience and putting the puzzle pieces together so the content flows well.
08

Stretching and recaffeinating.
09
How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Minimalist. Editorial. Modern. Brutalist.
10

-Stacked List Cards
-Split Gallery
-Overflow Elements to Adjacent Sections
11
What makes your work standout?
With my background in fashion design, I incorporate a European, minimalistic sensibility in my work. I gravitate towards clean lines, grids, textures, black accents, and an overall minimalistic design aesthetic.
12
What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Kim Vance ND
Website →The client completed an in depth questionnaire relating to their business, industry competitors, content requirements, and desired styles. I distilled all of the information into a visual identity concept. Once approved by the client we moved into the web design process which consists of designing a high-fidelity prototype of the homepage. Once the homepage is approved the remaining pages are designed and the site is built out with minor tweaks via client feedback.
Workshops used:
-Fluid Tab Grids for Blog section on Home page
-Stacked List Cards on Services page
Throughout this project build I learnt that "less is more". I always start out wanting to include a lot of cool features, but I am reminded to ask: what is the purpose, and will it hinder the user's experience?
13
What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
Don't be afraid to try and get messy. Use the amazing community to your advantage. If you're struggling to understand a concept—practice is key. This can come in the form a concept project for your portfolio if you don't have a client. Keep going and it will get easier and you will get quicker!
